...regularly juggling work on productions in the television world, whilst simultaneously creating mass scale Public Event/Community Engagement Projects...not forgetting some international Theatre Design on the side!

After training in Theatre & 3D design, Candida went on to have an impressive freelance career as a Theatre Designer for many theatre companies including; Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Coventry Belgrade, Leicester Haymarket & Bristol Old Vic, among many others, before becoming Designer in Residence at Liverpool Playhouse. More recently Candida has worked internationally on creations for theatres such as ? on productions of ?

Candida's Creative talents enabled a cross over to Film & Television, becoming Head of Design & Senior Prosuction Designer at Mersey Television, designing Brookside, Hollyoaks and many other projects between 1989 & 2006.

 

Other Television accolades include Design Director for the re-creation of Crossroads at Carlton TV, Jimmy McGovern's Moving On & Production Designer for Let Loose, Small World & more recently the Sister Boniface Mysteries

Creative Director, Community Engagement Facilitator, Project  Coordinator

Creative Director of the Manchester Parade from 2015-2019 in collaboration with Walk the Plank, Candida Boyes spearheaded the coordination of all entrants of the parade. Using every ounce of her experience, organisational skills & contacts to stunning effect.

 

Candida has been involved with a variety of community arts projects, like the successful Go Superlambananas project, part of

 Liverpool Capital of Culture 08, responsibe for favourites Rafa Banitez Koppy, Super St Domingo, Tiger in The Woods & many more.

 

Another project saw Candida overseeing In a week of workshops in a Collaboration with Jewelery artist Karin Sheldon on a project with

Chester's twinned town

Marzocca in the Marche area of Italy. Italian children produced a 4 metre high giant constructed from localy sourced willow, bamboo & recycled materials , showcased on the town beach.

Manchester Parade

2015-19

In 2019, Candida also collaborated with the students and faculty of Kerala State Institute of Design. to contribute ideas & conceive designs to create art forms for the Manchester parade 

The Parade was a great success with the Malayalee section being possibly, the most vibrant and colourful segment of the Parade.

The Silk Road

2017

Production Designer for The Silk Road, a musical theatre production in Beijing, China.  It was produced by UKCI. This was a training & performance project attached to the Beijing University, featuring 100 schoolchildren.
